Culture is One Thing and Varnish is Another.

Quoting Bapu to initiate the post, “A nation's culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people”.

Now let’s jump to question, what is the culture on modern India today? In the name of patriotism some sensitive Indians will start giving me BC era references of Indian culture – Religious tolerance, unity in diversity, spirituality or Yoga. But at present we are in self-doubt whether a pie of all these exists in modern Indian culture or not. One may say, with the rapid developments and globalization a culture is assumed to lose its essence. I dont buy it as I'm seeing China more prosperous then us and still having a culture not much degenerated. Our culture has been forced to commit suicide systematically. Today, when I check my background I’m very proud that I’ve been educated in RSS led Shishu Mandirs and have been raised in rural areas - where , once, real India used to live. After spending lot of life in Indian metros and rural India, I can find the deviation between real Indian culture and modern Indian culture. The real culture has been destroyed. All credit goes to us for blindly following of western culture, English to the first. Bhartiyata is in our genes. It can be polluted but can’t be destroyed. Despite of your millions false attempt you can’t be English, Chinese or American. So what’s this pretention for?

It’s a common site in any pub, disc of hanging point. People gossips and then asks innocently who was Abhimanyu or Vishwamitra or Sumitra. They pronounce it like a British, They fit characters wrongly, like, by saying , Sumitra is the wife of Arjun or any senseless fitting. They are doing it intentionally so that someone from the group can correct them. The whole drama is done intentionally. People can do Google to know everything about our culture but we are creating this drama, why? Just to show, “See, I don’t even know these little basic facts, I am a true follower of western culture. I’m modern. I’m from Youngistan, meri jaan. Ask them about Led Zeppelin and they will start humming rock numbers from the band whom I think 80% of India might not have heard ever. That’s the tragedy. We are destroying our culture. Initially, I thought it might be a silp or just an act of innocence but now I believe that this is all what new generation is all about. They are licking asses of westerner. Worshiping Pink Floyd and forgetting Ustad Zakir Hussain. Even if they show some affection to classical Indian music that too they are doing to mimic themselves Westerner. Some hot shot westerners find taste in our great heritage.

Gen X is weak and deserves some sympathy. These posers are simply a varnished version of west culture and are no way going to help the country. Like me, you may also get upset but can’t blame Gen-X completely. It’s not their fault because ‘they’ are nobody but ‘us’ only. Time is calling for 'Vyaktitva-Vikas' and 'Anushasan'. Time to at least do little googling of Yam, Niyam, Asana, Pranayam, Pratyahara, Dhayan, Dharna and Samadhi. Even if you ignore it after getting uiseful insight and continue living your way, the objectives met partially. At least, in your next gathering at any hanging point you will not be heard quoting, “Draupadi was wife of Ravana, was not she?
